About the event
Join The Abolition Garden for a Native Foodways, Youth-Led Cooking Class led by one of our Rootwork Students: Diné (Navajo) youth, Nyomi Oliver!
Nyomi has been studying Native recipes from her own family lineage alongside her work at The Abolition Garden this season. This is her third year stewarding a plot of traditional, nourishing foods for our neighbors, and she's excited to share knowledge with our community. As we reach the end of the harvest season and transition into winter, this class explores seasonal cooking and traditional foodways. Together, we'll learn how to prepare nourishing Native recipes from Nyomi while sharing knowledge, building connections, and celebrating food traditions that still live today. Come ready to learn, cook, and connect!
